Rock Pink Roster of Bands
In 2008, the Rock Pink Battle Series introduced us to many local area bands. We were overwhelmed at the generosity AND outstanding talent that Orlando based bands possessed. Each round of our battle series had our team listening to literally dozens of submissions and only four could be chosen to play per round.
In the end, three great bands put on stellar performances and although we considered the battle series a great success, we also had a hard time choosing a “best” band from the excellent bands that participated.
We also became very aware that each band participating in the event was very supportive of our mission and there were also band members that shared stories of family members suffering from the disease and their battles to survive.
In addition to the bands performing, many Orlando celebrities volunteered their time to judge the event. We had radio, television, and musical celebrities all making the battle series a very special event.
Ultimately, we decided as successful as it was, we didn’t feel comfortable using the battle concept for future events, so we made the decision to create a different type of event that generated the electricity of the battle series without having to make very tough decisions on a “best band”. The Rock Pink Roster Band concept will focus more on community instead of competition.
Introducing the Rock Pink Roster of Bands:
During the battle series we met many bands that carried the passion for our mission and the willingness to donate their time to help us raise awareness and fund a local area breast cancer program. There were many more bands willing to help than we could even accommodate, which pointed us toward starting a new program that gives more bands a chance to get involved and rewards them for their efforts.
The Rock Pink Roster of Bands will consist of the area’s top rock bands. There will be no more than 30 Rock Pink Roster Bands in 2010. All must carry the same passion for our mission to be considered for a spot on the Rock Pink Roster.
Being a Rock Pink Roster Band represents a partnership. Both Rock Pink and the band will benefit from the relationship and ultimately, the big winner will be the people that we help both by raising awareness and supporting local breast cancer programs.
